Our Volunteers Make A Difference

Navy-Marine Corps Society is a private, non-profit, volunteer, service organization. We rely on well trained, dedicated, professional, caring Volunteers and Employees to achieve our mission.

We provide the training, education, and other tools necessary to attain the highest levels of effectiveness.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

The Receptionist greets clients, helps them process an initial application for NMCRS assistance and answer telephones. Receptionists work under the supervision of the Chairman of Receptionists.  (Positions available at 32nd Street, North Island, MCRD or Miramar).

The Caseworker assists in assessing needs, identifying resources, and determining what Society services are appropriate to help meet needs. Caseworkers work under the supervision of the Chairman of Interviewers and consult with the Director, employee Counselors, Budget Counselor and other volunteer Caseworkers.  (Positions available at 32nd Street, North Island, MCRD or Miramar).

Hospital Visitor  provides service for patients who are unable to provide for themselves, thus helping to create a more positive atmosphere for patients at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego. The work is performed under the supervision of the Chairman of the Hospital Visitors.  (Position available at 32nd Street only).

Budget for Baby Instructors assist in the presentation of the Society's formal educational program helping clients plan for the cost of having a child. In conjunction with the Layette committee, Volunteers provide classroom instruction, act as classroom aides, assemble supplies, and organize schedules for the program. Budget for Baby Volunteers perform their duties under the supervision of either the Chairman of Budget for Baby, the Chairman of Layettes, the Chairman of Volunteers, the Volunteer Coordinator, the Budget Counselor, the Office Manager, or the Director.  (Position available at 32nd Street, North Island or Miramar).

Thrift Shop Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in NMCRS Thrift Shops. Volunteers can work in a specific area, or rotate through the whole spectrum of job areas. The work is performed under the supervision of the Chairman of Thrift Shop who will assign tasks on an "as needed" basis.  (Position available at 32nd Street, North Island or Miramar).  For more information on our Thrift Shops, please contact the shop of your choice.

Layette Assembler is responsible for putting together the "Baby's First Seabags" that are given out at the conclusion of the Budget For Baby class.  This involves many companies different items for baby that must be packed in the seabag.   (Position available at 32nd Street only).
